In September 2026, the industrial producer price index in Morocco showed a modest increase of 0.1%, demonstrating a deceleration compared to the 0.4% increase recorded in August. The official data, released on Friday by the North African country's High Commission for Planning, were reported by the news outlet Hespress.

The overall trend, which excludes petroleum refining from the calculation, was mainly driven by higher prices in the apparel manufacturing sector, which rose by 1.4%. More modest increases affected the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, up 0.6%, and the chemical industry, which grew by 0.1%.

Conversely, the overall expansion was limited by declines recorded in other relevant sectors of domestic manufacturing. Prices fell by 0.4% in metallurgy and by 0.2% in the food industry, reversing the trend of August when chemicals and metallurgy had shown significantly sharper gains.

The survey also highlights a situation of total price stability in the extractive industries, the production and distribution of electrical energy, and the water sector. The examined indicator measures the economic values received directly by industrial producers, differing sharply from the final prices paid by consumers in Moroccan shops.
