In the aftermath of the Timișoara congress of October 31, 2026, the president of the Save Romania Union, Dominic Fritz, gave a detailed interview to the media outlet HotNews. The political leader explained that the party intends to build a solid reformist pole ahead of the 2028 elections, collaborating with Ilie Bolojan. The stated objective is to bring to life a future government team without the PSD and AUR formations. Fritz clarified that there is no hypothesis of a merger with the PNL, highlighting the clear political differences while hoping for common electoral cooperation against rivals.
During the conversation, Fritz downplayed recent opinion polls that credit his political force with between eight and ten percent, branding them as outcomes driven by opposing interests. The political representative claimed the results of internal surveys and took as a reference the twelve percent achieved in the elections. He also defended the work of the team's four ministers during the previous government experience, arguing that the reforms undertaken produced tangible results among citizens, despite attempts at political marginalization.
Regarding the internal balance, Fritz expressed confidence in the compactness of the new National Bureau, emphasizing how the various lists confirmed support for his three-year mandate. He also commented positively on the growth of prominent figures such as Diana Buzoianu and Radu Miruță, considering the presence of multiple points of reference healthy. On the institutional front, he confirmed a thinning of contacts with Nicușor Dan, noting widespread disappointment among the electorate over the failure to pursue certain initial programmatic priorities after the government appointment.
Moving to parliamentary initiatives from the opposition, Fritz announced that the party will present a detailed administrative-territorial reform project, alternative to the one promoted by the PSD, proposing the establishment of a dedicated commission. He then remarked that parliamentary action will exploit every tool available, challenging the rhetorical approach attributed to AUR. The political representative reiterated the desire to commit full-time to leading the reformist force to consolidate the opposition's influence and respond to the concrete needs of Romanian citizens.
