In Verona, N. R., a 35-year-old nurse, has been arrested on charges of murdering his wife, 32-year-old Jessica Dalla Chiara. The woman died on June 24, 2024. The man allegedly administered insulin for non-therapeutic purposes, causing her death. RaiNews reported the arrest, which took place by order of preliminary investigations judge Carola Musio.
According to investigators, coordinated by Prosecutor Alberto Sergi, the insulin administered via drip allegedly caused fatal hypoglycemic crises. A possible motive is an insurance payout from a life insurance policy taken out two years prior. Initially, the death was attributed to severe unexplained hypoglycemia, with doctors at Borgo Trento hospital in Verona unable to clarify the causes.
Jessica had her first crisis on May 22, 2024. A month-long hospitalization at Borgo Trento followed, with other unexplained episodes. Discharged on June 21, she died days later in Bussolengo. At the time, her husband expressed grief over the loss to the Corriere della Sera, stating that he would live for their daughter, Aurora.
More than two years later, investigations have led to a new reconstruction of the facts. The 35-year-old, defended by lawyers Giacomo Giulianelli and Davide Lovato, is now in prison. The inquiry continues to ascertain responsibilities and circumstances of the woman's death.
