Three hooded individuals broke into a Roman art gallery, Rosso20sette, attacking artist Laika's exhibition. The exhibition, titled “The Collapse of Democracy - States of Injustice, Chapter 2”, was the target of a serious act of vandalism, as reported by RaiNews. The gallery owner, present at the time, was threatened and immobilized by the assailants.

According to RaiNews, the assailants defaced all the works displayed inside the gallery. The exhibition includes about twenty creations among canvases, papers, and installations, resulting from the artist's second trip to the United States. This attack compromised the integrity of the artistic arrangement, critically focused on themes of democracy and justice.

Investigations are underway to identify those responsible. The Rosso20sette gallery reportedly lacks internal surveillance cameras. However, the external area is covered by street video surveillance systems. The external recordings could provide useful elements to reconstruct the dynamics of the break-in and identify those responsible for the act of vandalism.

It is not the first time that artist Laika has received threats; previously, these had always come via social media, as indicated by the same source. The direct and physical attack on the exhibition marks a worrying escalation compared to previous forms of hostility manifested against the artist and her work.
