A new edition of the Days of Research kicks off from November 1 to 15, 2026, promoted by the AIRC Foundation to raise awareness about advances in oncology and to raise funds. According to RaiNews, the event involves the media, institutions such as the Quirinale Palace, schools, and the football world across Serie A, Serie B, and the National Team.

The campaign aims to finance the activities of more than five thousand researchers currently working on 779 active projects. The nationwide mobilization includes the traditional distribution of the Chocolates of Research in town squares, while the longstanding synergy with the public broadcasting service takes the form of an informative marathon scheduled between November 1 and 8.

Data cited by the news outlet, sourced from AIOM and AIRTUM, indicates that today about 50% of people affected by an oncological disease recover, with a 9% decline in mortality recorded over the last ten years in Italy. These achievements reaffirm the usefulness of investments to refine targeted therapies for complex forms of cancer.

The collaboration between AIRC and Rai has surpassed thirty years of activity, originating from the initial experience of Storie al Microscopio conceived by Pippo Baudo. Through cross-media dissemination and the activation of the solidarity number 45521, the partnership has allowed over time the total collection of more than 163 million euros to support scientists.
