Italian tennis players Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have reached the doubles final at the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo. According to what was reported by RaiNews, the Italian pair defeated the Slovak Tereza Mihalikova and the British Olivia Nicholls in the semi-finals with a score of 6-4, 6-0, dominating the match in the second set after a more closely contested initial phase.

This on-court result allows Errani and Paolini to officially punch their ticket for the upcoming WTA Finals in Indian Wells, in which they will take part for the third consecutive time. The athletes locked in ninth place in the Race, an achievement useful for qualification thanks to the withdrawal of the pair composed of Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic, sidelined by physical issues.

At the end of the match, Errani emphasized the importance of mutual trust on the court in the face of a difficult start, while Paolini expressed enthusiasm for the experience in the Japanese capital, where the two players had already competed during the Olympic Games but never as a pair within this specific tournament.

In the decisive match for the title, the Italians will face the Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and the Brazilian Luisa Stefani, the tournament's top seeds. For Errani and Paolini, this represents the fourteenth final played together, in addition to being the first all-Italian team to reach the final act in the history of the Japanese event.
