On the eve of the congress of the Romanian party Save Romania Union, convened to elect the twenty-four members of the new National Bureau without directly changing the presidency, a debate is emerging regarding the organizational line. In an interview granted to the media outlet HotNews, the mayor of Bacău Lucian Viziteu expressed the need to transform internal management mechanisms, calling for a grassroots presence that does not rely solely on electoral mobilizations.

The contest for the governing body features three different internal factions: the USR Echilibru list, the USR Deschis list, and the grouping named USR Forța din Filiale, led by Viziteu himself alongside twenty-nine local administrators. The group disputes the current distance between the decision-making center in Bucharest and local realities, emphasizing that the organized presence covers approximately seven hundred and fifty of the country's 3,181 administrative units.

Among the proposals put forward by Viziteu is the allocation of fifty percent of total resources to provincial structures, in addition to greater involvement of members in appointments and strategic paths. The administrator clarifies that he does not wish to transfer control solely to mayors, but rather to distribute prerogatives to all operational members across the various local communities.

Asked about the possibility of future reviews concerning the party's national leadership, Viziteu observed that every position must remain open to the judgment of the grassroots, emphasizing accountability for results. Regarding relations with the National Liberal Party, he recommended preserving a distinct political identity.
