The CEO of drone and missile manufacturer Fire Point, Iryna Terekh, declared that the company has identified technical solutions to carry out long-range strikes without the aid of Starlink satellite communications. The news was reported by Ukrainska Pravda based on an interview granted by the company to Reuters.
According to explanations from the company's management, Fire Point's systems were designed to complete operational missions without relying on an active satellite link, prioritizing navigation autonomous from external signals. The company specified that the solution covers about fifteen to twenty percent of the potential capabilities achievable with full service.
The matter comes within the framework of technical difficulties that recently emerged along the front line. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had reported that Starlink and Starshield devices had stopped working at speeds between one hundred thirty and one hundred sixty-one kilometers per hour, causing disruptions to logistical activities and the operational deployment of drones.
Following the visibility of the case, Elon Musk had attributed the limitations to U.S. authorities, arguing that the network's terms of service had been violated. Subsequently, Zelenskyy observed that media attention on the restrictions made it possible to restore the satellite system's functionalities to the levels required for military operations.
