The Vinyl Room record store in Rome is preparing to present to the public a selection of eleven rare and unpublished photographs dedicated to Bob Dylan's musical origins. According to reports from the newspaper la Repubblica, the exhibition titled Bob Dylan: Forever Young will be accessible starting December 5 in the premises located on via della Frezza, run by twin brothers Marco and Federico De Gregori.
The displayed shots bear witness to the singer-songwriter's beginnings in the city of New York, captured in the spring of 1962 through John Cohen's lens. The author of the images, who passed away in 2019 after a career spent in ethnomusicological research and in documenting American folk traditions, was the first photographer to portray the artist inside his own loft in the East Village and on the roof of the surrounding building, capturing spontaneous poses with guitar and harmonica.
The exhibition, curated by Gerardo Martorelli, will allow visitors not only to admire the works but also to purchase them. These are thirty-by-forty-centimeter prints, produced on silver gelatin baryta paper from original files, offered in a limited and numbered edition of ten copies signed by the author.
The event is part of the cultural program of the Rome shop, which specializes in collectible vinyl records, discographic rarities, and art photography linked to the contemporary music scene.
